Ferrari F430 GT2 as well as BMW M3 GTR models are considered as the strong competitors of Porsche 911 GT3. While considering the pre-production history of this model, Porsche 911 GT1 was the first ever model in the line-up, which had won 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1998. After making necessary modifications to the 996 models, Porsche had offered the 911 GT3 model as a sports car, which greatly dominated the market.
The GT3 model also was offered with water jackets separately in each side of the crankcase to cool 3 cylinder bank of the engine. Moreover, water was pumped by means of a radiator for the whole engine processing. Hence, Porsche 911 GT3 car engine was considered similar to the water cooled engine of 962 model racing car. However, 911 GT3 model differs from 962 models due to its two cylinder heads along with each covering 3 cylinders unlike six individual cylinder heads in 962 model cars.
