BMW X3 has been one of the most popular compact SUVs from the house of BMW throughout the world, which happens to be the successor of BMW X5. The initial discontentment amongst the public was its ordinary front fascia that did not live up to the expectations of most of the critics and sport enthusiasts.

The concept vehicle unveiled at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show was a SAV model based on the 3 series platform, without vestigial roof and windows. Most of the design cues and parts of the X3 model were derived from the 3-Series model.
